Geology is the study of the earth. Geologists study the makeup and processes of the earth to better understand our environment, to better manage our resources, and to improve our understanding of the earth's natural history. Many aspects of geology are directly relevant to the environment. Environmental Geology is the application of geologic principles and knowledge to a wide spectrum of topics defined by interactions between people and the physical Earth.
