GENERAL ENVIRONMENTAL GEOLOGY RESOURCES
U.S. Geologic Survey:  The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is the Nation's largest earth-science agency and has the principal responsibility within the Federal government for providing information for appraising and understanding the Nation's natural resources and hazards. A primary purpose of their mission is to gather reliable, impartial information that can be used to minimize loss of life and property from natural disasters.  The USGS maintains a huge web site on a wide range of topics with a wide range of types of information—it is strongly recommended you explore this site.

U.S. Geologic Survey Water Resources:  This is the primary branch of the USGS that studies water resources.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency:  A great site to learn about the science and the environmental health of major watersheds and different regions throughout the U.S.

The North Carolina Geological Survey (NCGS) examines, describes and maps the geology and mineral resources of the state and publishes reports and maps.

Terraserver:  Online air photos for most of the US.  This database was developed by a joint venture between Microsoft and the USGS.  Simply enter the name of the place to view an air photo.  Even Cullowhee and WCU can be viewed!
