ASSIGNMENTS:


Week 1
1.  You have been emailed a pdf document on PLC Basics - SIEMENS 200 Series PLC'S
                            READ AND STUDY THE DOCUMENT UP THROUGH TIMERS AND COUNTERS.
                                Work Through the Intro to Siemens PLCs Tutorial for the S7 200 Series (CLICK HERE TO GO).
2. THE FIRST LAB WILL BEGIN ON NEXT CLASS PERIOD.  IT IS STRONGLY
                                 RECOMMENDED THAT YOU REVIEW AND BECOME FAMILIAR WITH
                                 THE PURPOSE, OBJECTIVES AND PROCEDURES FOR THE LAB PRIOR TO CLASS.
3. VISIT THE PLC TUTOR(CLICK HERE TO GO) SITE AND
WORK UP THROUGH TIMERS AND COUNTERS.


Week 1                    NOTE:  A SIMPLIFIED LAB FORMAT HAS BEEN EMAILED TO YOU AND IS A FORMAT
                                GUIDE ONLY (Do not simply type in the form and submit for your lab report).
                                REVIEW THE LAB GUIDE WITH EXAMPLES (CLICK HERE TO GO).  COMPLETE
                                LAB 1: ALARM SYSTEM.   SUBMIT A WRITTEN LAB REPORT IN ONE WEEK.


Week 2                   Review PLC Basics (emailed pdf).  Specifically
                               make sure you have a good understanding of "latches", timers, and counters.
                               Complete Lab 2A: PLC Program Development and User's Guide for a
                               Pneumatic Can Crusher.  Note:  This week you are given the I/O and and a basic
                               description.  Your objective is to develop a program on your own.  You may wish to used
                               "SET" and "RESET" functions instead of the normal "latch".


Week 3
                                READ THE SECTION ON SHIFT REGISTERS IN YOUR NOTES.
                              
                                 COMPLETE LAB 2B:  PARTS TRACKING USING A SHIFT REGISTER.
                                 SUBMIT A WRITTEN REPORT BY THE FOLLOWING Week (Lab day).


WEEK 4                  REVIEW THE FOLLOWING SITE ON STEPPER MOTORS.

WEEK 5                 COMPLETE LAB 5:  THE TD-200 & STEPPER MOTOR CONTROL OF AN
                                AUTOMATED MEASURING STATION


WEEK 6                 TENTATIVE:  Lab 6 Control of an Automated Drilling Station Using Automation Studio
                                (This is a simulated PLC control for the Allen Bradley Series of PLCs)


WEEK 7                TENTATIVE:  Lab 7 - Sequential Function Chart (SFC) Programming in Automation Studio
                                Control of an Automate Dye Dispensing System
