      From the current partnership organization:
      https://www.battelleforkids.org/networks/p21/frameworks-resources

"P21's Frameworks for 21st Century Learning were developed with input from teachers, education experts, and business leaders to define and illustrate the skills and knowledge students need to succeed in work and life, as well as the support systems necessary for 21st century learning outcomes. They have been used by thousands of educators and hundreds of schools in the U.S. and abroad to put 21st century skills at the center of learning"

The P21 organization joined with the Battelle for Kids non-profit advocacy group to continue to support the framework which encourages use of the 4Cs in teaching and learning:

      • Collaboration
      • Communication
      • Critical Thinking
      • Creativity
Read through the brief overview of the Framework for 21st Century Learning noting what you find:
      • Interesting
      • Perplexing
      • Useful for your current and future classroom

    • ISTE Standards for Teachers and Students

From the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) website (quoted directly):

    Our vision
ISTE’s vision is that all educators are empowered to harness technology to accelerate innovation in teaching and learning, and inspire learners to reach their greatest potential.

    Our mission
ISTE inspires educators worldwide to use technology to innovate teaching and learning, accelerate good practice and solve tough problems in education by providing community, knowledge and the ISTE Standards, a framework for rethinking education and empowering learners."

ISTE is the recognized leader in technology in education and the professional organization most referred to when educators seek information about the use of technology by teachers, students, and school leaders. This includes tech standards which they have developed since 1998 and revise every nine years to reflect the changes in technology and also the most current thinking about technology in K-12 education.

REFLECT AND APPLY:

Drawing from both the Framework for 21st Century Learning and the National Standards from ISTE for both students and teachers, write down your responses to the 3-2-1 below and bring these written responses to our ZOOM session next week, Feb 2 or 4. Be prepared to share with your group in breakout rooms and later with everyone, what your group discussed. [point bearing assignment]

      • Three things that stand out and you think we should know from the material you read (can be any combination or one from each)
      • Two ways this material can directly influence or be applied to your future classroom
      • One question you have about the standards.

MAKE SURE TO ALSO HAVE YOUR NOTES WITH YOU IN CLASS NEXT WEEK WHEN WE ZOOM!

    1. Log into your class gmail account and click on this link to submit your notes via the form: https://forms.gle/mXqbHmA4NTmNAaDa8

    2. You can submit your notes as a Word doc, a PDF, or any other type of file.

    3. If you hand write them, you can take a photo and send it. Make sure I can read it as I'm interested in what you think about the standards.
Upon Reflection and Not Required (But worth the watch....)
Some Inspiration. Think to yourself.....
What part of this video resonates with you? Which of these teachers tells part of *your* story as a future teacher?
