1. For a selected or
assigned state, summarize the primary hydrologic issues/problems in one
typed paragraph and in a brief (~2 min.), oral overview to the
class. Use the appropriate USGS web site.
2. For any river and groundwater well in the U.S., find the stream discharge/water level at some time between Aug. 26 and Aug. 31. Know the location of the well and the stream. (Hint: go to USGS water data). 3. Review, as necessary, basic geologic principles, rocks, minerals, topographic maps, and hydrology. I'll do this to a minor extent in classes and labs, but this responsibility is largely yours. Continue this 'review' as needed throughout the semester. 4. Fetter, Ch. 1, #1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. I will not collect these homework problems, but I will go over it, as necessary, in class. Answers to odd numbered problems are in the back of your text and at Fetter's web site, which has worked out solutions. |
