Purpose:
1. It is
essential that you listen to accomplished
professional singers in order to improve
singing,
diction, style, language acuity, and
authenticity.
2. By compiling a list of songs
appropriate to your voice it is assumed you will have a broader grasp of vocal
literature.
3. You will have broader knowledge from
which you and your teacher can choose appropriate future literature for such
things as your Junior Qualifying Examinations, Juries, Junior and Senior recitals.
What to
do: (Written Portion)
1. Choose/locate 10 recordings of German
Lieder and/or French Chanson.
These should be 10 different singers. Please note:
of these 10 only 3 may be from You Tube or some other Òon lineÓ
source. You must go to the library
and learn to use these resources.
2. Cite those recordings according to
the following format: (to be
included in your written submission)

information. Performers. Label,

diction? Do you think the singer
is German? Why did you choose this

g. Do not plagiarize!!!! If you quote from anything, cite your
source!!!
