Admission Procedures:
Admission as a Music Masters Student requires admission to the Graduate School AND the School of Music . In addition, the students enrolled in the MAED or MAT will require approval from the College of Education and Allied Professions. All music graduate students must take the entrance exams in music theory, music history and provide a writing sample.
Step 1. Admission to the Graduate School requires the following:
Application and $40.00 application fee. Western Carolina University - Forms & Manuals
Satisfactory score on the general portion of the GRE. (For music, students must score a minimum of 800 total.)
Completed bachelors degree in music - MAED candidates must hold a bachelors degree in music education.
3 letters of recommendation
Submission of official transcripts.
Step 2. Admission to the School of Music :

Completion of a Bachelors degree in music - MAED candidates must hold a bachelors degree in music education.

Successful passing of the Music Entrance Examinations.
