TRACK DESCRIPTIONS:

 

TRACK I   approximately 50 hours

 

I.             One production assignment: (approx. 34 hours)  

--helping administer and run super titles for an opera and assisting with production administrative work as needed in the office

 

II.           Work with the Vocal Arts Program:  (approx. 10 hours) this teaching related assignment allows the graduate student to offer insight to younger students about college and graduate school and to give them feedback and critique on their own physical singing habits and posture as well as song performance.  Also, a subject will be chosen that is appropriate for the level of the singers enrolled in the Vocal Arts Program.  One example might include a general historical presentation on the development of song.  The graduate student will research that subject, prepare notes and outlines for the assignment and teach a one hour class to the students of VAP.  This assignment will require some Saturday morning availability.

III.         Seminar:  (6 hours) three two-hour seminars will be scheduled throughout the semester for all students enrolled in this class.  Seminars will focus on auditions, a young professional’s emersion into the opera world, business etiquette specifically geared for opera and aria critique.  Opportunity will also be made available for interviewing professional performing artists and staff at Asheville Lyric Opera.  

 

TRACK II  approximately 48-56 hours

 

I.                    One opera chorus assignment (approx. 32-40 hours)
