Human Attachment to Pets
What is the purpose of this research?
Pets are an important part of the lives of many people. We are studying the reasons that people have for obtaining dogs and cats at animal shelters. This information will help the formulation of public policy towards issues related to the problem of what to do with unwanted animals.
What will be
expected of me?
You will be asked to complete two surveys. One is related to attitudes toward animals and the other concerns general aspects of personality.
How long with the research take?
It will take about 20 minutes to complete the survey.
Will my answers be anonymous?
Yes. Your name will not be used at all in this research. You will not put your name on the data sheets, and the researchers will not know how you answered the questions.
Can I withdraw from the study if I decide to?
Absolutely. You can withdraw from the research at any time and ask that you answers not be used.
Is there any harm that I might experience from taking
part in the study?
No. There is no foreseeable harm to the participants.
How will I benefit from taking part in the research?
You will obtain the satisfaction of knowing that you participated in a study that will shed light on how our society can address the pet over population problem. In addition, if you are interested, we will send you a copy of the results. Indicate your interest by writing you name, address and e-mail on the back of this form.
