Chaucer Texts

General Chaucer Research Sites

  •  Chaucer Metapage
    • This project was initiated at the 33rd International Congress of Medieval Studies by a group of medievalists interested in promoting Chaucer studies on the WWW. Its aims are: to organize and provide navigation aides for Chaucer resources on the WWW; to work towards enhancing and extending those resources, and; to encourage Chaucer studies, including those undertaken via "distance learning," at all levels of education.
  • Electronic Canterbury Tales
    • Texts, images, references, web resources, etc. An excellent compilation of material organized by Dr. Dan Kline (Univ. of Alaska)
  •  Chaucer Review Annotated Bibliography
    • Annotated bibliography of  The Chaucer Review, the foremost scholarly journal devoted to Chaucer studies.  A great resource, but a rather large (long time to download) file.
  • Chaucertext
    • A limited on-line archive for electronic Chaucer Scholarship.
  • The Essential Chaucer
    • "The Essential Chaucer is a selective, annotated bibliography of Chaucer studies from 1900-1984 . . . The bibliography is divided into almost 90 topics, including themes, techniques, and individual works by Chaucer."
  • Harvard Chaucer Page
    • Perhaps the best Chaucer site on the web. Constructed by Prof. Larry Benson (editor of The Riverside Chaucer) and his colleagues at Harvard. Historical and cultural background, introductions to all Chaucer's works, and summaries or English translations of many of the sources and analogues of stories in The Canterbury Tales.
  • New Chaucer Society Home Page
    • Official site of this international organization dedicated to the study of Chaucer in his period.  Links to other Chauicer sites
  • Studies in the Age of Chaucer (SAC) Bibliography
    • A searchable, annotated bibliography of every book and article written about Chaucer for the last several years.
