Adult Learners Student Organization (ALSO)

Adult Learners Student Organization Article I Name of Organization The name of this organization shall be Adult Learner Student Organization and here and after referred to as A.L.S.O. Article II Purpose The purpose of this organization shall be to provide an opportunity for students, especially those of non-traditional age, to associate with others, enjoy social activities, deal with issues of common concern, and share information, resources and experiences. Article III Membership Membership in A.L.S.O. shall be open to any members of the University community with interest in issues affecting non-traditional students. Membership shall be accepted regardless of race, creed, colors, or gender. Article IV Officers and Duties A. President: shall call and preside over meetings, appoint ad hoc committees, nominate committee chairpersons. The office shall be open to any member who maintains a 2.0 GPA and is able to complete term of office. B. Vice-President: Shall preside at meetings when President is absent, assist the President, act in the capacity of program coordinator. The office shall be open to any member who maintains a 2.0 GPA and is able to complete term of office. C. Secretary and/or Treasurer: Shall maintain the membership and financial records of the organization, keep minutes of meetings, and handle the organization’s correspondence. The office shall be open to any member who maintains a 2.0 GPA and is able to complete term of office. Article V Terms of Officers and Method of Election Officers shall assume their duties at the beginning of the spring semester and serve through the fall semester. Elections will be held during the first half of November. Nominations shall be accepted from the floor at the meeting designated for elections. Article VI Frequency of Meetings The organization will hold regular meetings at a time convenient to a majority of the membership. Article VII Amendments Amendments and changes to the constitution must be approved by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present at a regular meeting and by the SGA. Article VIII University Advisor Shall be any interested WCU faculty or staff member chosen and approved by a two-thirds majority vote of the members present at a regular meeting.
