Western is proud of our students and of the organizations they have created to provide opportunities for all students to develop new relationships, get connected with campus ad local community, develop on-hands leadership process awareness and skills and provide real service to others while having a meaningful experience.
The students of Western have been building numerous “fields of dreams” now it is up to you to come join in. You will find you can become part of an existing student organization or if you see a need you can create your own. Which ever way you choose you will have chances to make a difference.

Student Government Association
Are you a mover and a shaker? Do you want to help other students by working with the University system and community to make changes, bring new ideas to the table and connect to other UNC's , State legislative groups and national student organizations? As a member of the Western Student Government Association you have a chance to take part in your own governance and help shape our campus community. Whether you serve as an elected, or appointed official, committee member, or a volunteer, you will find plenty of opportunities to make your voice heard and more importantly to help others have their voice heard.
Student Clubs
We have nearly 175 student clubs and organization that are active here at Western. They range form political action groups, to religious and faith based organizational groups, to cultural awareness groups, to recreational and sports clubs groups, to professional career organization to Greek fraternities and sororities. Make new friends as you explore the variety of possibilities!
Ethnic and Cultural Organizations
You can celebrate your own heritage or learn about others and find new perspectives that link you with our global society. Western has several cultural clubs offering you the opportunity to learn, have fun, and explore diverse traditions. Their missions vary from doing traditional activities such as dance and music to promoting student academic success. Most offer numerous opportunities for community service and leadership.
Religious Organizations
For many folks, religious beliefs are a major part of who they are. We have many faith based organizations here at Western that are active and provide a place to worship and to just talk about life and its meaning in the company of other students. Our religious student organizations are often some of our most popular groups, as they reach out and become a spiritual home to students of all faiths.
Greek Life
With 10 general fraternities, 5 general sororities, 6 chapters of the Divine nine of historically black sororities and fraternities, and new chapters headed to Western, currently some 10 percent of Western students choose to participate in the variety of experiences in the traditions of Greek life. Our Western Greek community is committed to becoming one of the best in the nation; and has an honored tradition of community service for others, a path to close and lasting friendships through brotherhood and sisterhood, academic success, after college career networking, and opportunities for leadership.
