SENATORS EXERCISE OPTIONS ON WHITE,
PERSSON AND RIVERS
White assigned to Grand Rapids for their playoff stretch
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Senators announced today the Club has exercised
the options on the contracts of forward Todd
White and defencemen Ricard
Persson and Jamie
Rivers.
White, 25, was immediately assigned to Grand Rapids of the International
Hockey League, where he will join the Griffins for their first-round playoff
series against Cleveland. He appeared in 16 games with the Senators during
the 2000-2001 season, scoring four goals and adding one assist. The Kanata,
Ontario native registered 54 points with 22 goals and 32 assists in 64
games with the Griffins this season.
Persson appeared in 33 games with the Senators during the 2000-2001
season, scoring one goal and adding eight assists. The 31-year-old has
appeared in a total of 195 NHL games with New Jersey, St. Louis and Ottawa,
registering eight goals and 37 assists.
Rivers, 26, appeared in 45 games with the Senators this season, scoring
two goals and adding four assists. The Ottawa native joined the Senators
after signing with the Club as a free agent on November 10, 2000.
White and Persson were signed as free agents by the Ottawa Senators
on July 12, 2000.
