Staff Duties Please note that ALL staff will be required to write over the summer. You will have to be at the WCU
campus for the weekend of the conference. You will also be required to attend staff training the weekend
before the conference.
Committee Staff
Committee Director (Model UN experience required):As the Committee Director you will primarily be responsible for researching and writing a Background
Guide for your committee over the summer (before August 1st). You would be required to write 1,300 or
more words for your Background Guide through a review and editing process with the rest of the staff.
You will help guide your Assistant Director as they write part of the Background Guide along with you.
Most Committee Directors will also serve as chair of their Committee during the conference. Committee
Directors will be ultimately responsible for reviewing the substantive materials of their Committee.
Assistant Director (Model UN experience preferred):
As the Assistant Director you will primarily be responsible for researching and writing a portion of your
Background Guide for your committee over the summer (before August 1st). You would be required to
write 800 or more words for your Background Guide through a review and editing process with the rest of
the staff. Most Assistant Directors will also help manage the dais of their Committee during the
conference. Assistant Directors will help review the substantive materials of their Committee.
Rapporteur (No Model UN experience required):
As the Rapporteur you will primarily be responsible for maintaining organization on the dais. You will
work with one of the Committee Staff to ensure that the dais is well managed. You would be required to
write as needed. During the Conference you would take roll, keep the Speakers List, and record votes as
well as work with Conference Services Staff.
Conference Services Staff
Director of Conference Services (must be member of WCUMUN):
As the Committee Director you will primarily be responsible for organizing Conference Services along
with a member of the Senior Staff prior to the CVC, and for running Conference
Services during the conference. During the Conference you would administer
Conference Services for Delegates, Faculty Advisors and Conference Staff. You
would be required to write 600 or more words for Conference Services documents
as well as to help write Background Guides as needed.
Assistant Director of Conference Services (No Model UN experience
required): As the Assistant Director of Conference Services will assist
in the operation of Conference Services during the conference. You would be
required to write as needed.
