US Department of Education - Click here for NCLB site. NCLB is up for reauthorization in January, 2007. Teachers, counselors and graduate students in education are very concerned with the negative impact that this law has had on children, educators and the community. Several professional organizations have made recommendations for changes to the NCLB law. See the National Education Association (NEA) and the Rural School & Community Trust for two such examples. Note the NEA's introduction of the concept: Great Public Schools (GSP) as a very positive direction for the improvement of American public education. See class notes on NCLB reauthorization.

She is the winner of the George Orwell Award for Distinguished Contribution to Honesty and Clarity in Public Language. The U.S. Government document, Helping Your Child Learn History was stripped of the National Standards for History, and many copies were destroyed.
