Read this article, by  Susan Ohanian about censorship of the National Standards for History.  She is the winner of the George Orwell Award for Distinguished Contribution to Honesty and Clarity in Public Language.  The U.S. Government document, Helping Your Child Learn History was stripped of the National Standards for History, and many copies were destroyed.
