NOTICES FOR MAT STUDENTS

  Updated 11-20-06

Admission to the MAT program requires a personal interview with Dr. Herzog, program coordinator.
See admission requirements below.

As you progress through your program, it is important to plan well.  All information is available on this website as well as in the University documents such as the Graduate School website and the Graduate catalog.  Students are responsible for following University policies and deadlines.

MAT internships require a full-time semester-long commitment. You should plan to do your internship during your final semester, and that takes prior planning.
The internship application and autobiography are due early the semester before the internship.  At the same time you apply for your internship, you should also apply for graduation.  If you miss application deadlines, you may have to stay in graduate school longer than you had hoped. You have to be enrolled in at least one credit hour during the semester you graduate, including summer.

Contact Dr. Herzog for questions, information, etc.

(FYI. Forms are saved in htm and pdf formats to enable you to copy, print, and/or save. )

Program Planning

Student Checksheet. The Student Checksheet is a list of required courses and other program requirements.  It is useful for program planning and setting your timeline.  It is updated periodically, so it is best to check it every so often.

The MAT requires a full-time, semester-long internship in the grade level and subject of the concentration.  The internship application and autobiography are due early the semester prior to the internship. All students are advised to get some experience in public schools prior to the internship.  This can be done as a volunteer or through an independent practicum.
