MAT Program Assessment

In addition to meeting University and Graduate School requirements for admission and retention in the MAT program (including course requirements), students are assessed as follows.  The completed documents are kept in a locked file cabinet, with a file for each student.  Some of the documents are given to the licensure office (for NC licensure) and the associate dean (for program data assessment).

  1. Internship Assessment
    1. Mid semester and Final, Beginning Teacher Performance Appraisal System (incorporates INTASC standards).
    2. Teacher Work Sample (documents submitted to associate dean for compiling data.)
    3. Advanced Competencies, at the end of the internship semester
  2. Program Assessment
    1. Students fill out their student checksheet with advisor, Dr. Herzog.
    2. Dr. Herzog consults with advisor in Arts & Sciences.
    3. Unofficial transcript is attached.
    4. Students submit their graduation application.
  3. Comprehensive Portfolio
    1. Each standard is evaluated by two reviewers after the advisor gives the portfolio the initial review.
    2. The ratings are averaged.
    3. The Comprehensive Portfolio Evaluation Cover Sheet is the document on which the ratings are marked.  It is kept in the student file and sent to the graduate school.
