Research

As indicated by my publication and presentation list below, I have several research interest areas.

Notably, I am interested in investigating the Internet’s role in various aspects of people’s lives.  For example, I have conducted research examining the utilization (and perceived effectiveness) of sex offender registry websites as well as examined communication patterns in online pedophilic communities.  I have also researched the role that social networking sites such as facebook can play in higher education.  Finally, my students have conducted research investigating the effects of cyberbullying.

In addition I have conducted research on a variety of forensic related topics including the insanity defense, the death penalty, civil commitment of sex offenders, and online sex offender sting operations.

I have worked with PSY-280, PSY-480, PSY-680, and thesis students.  Almost all of my students (both undergraduate and graduate) have presented their research at regional and national conferences and some have even published their work in peer-reviewed journals. I would be happy to meet with you if you are interested in conducting research under my supervision.

This page is in the process of being updated; however, here is a list of my recent presentations.
