L. Alvin Malesky, Jr., Ph.D.

Welcome:

You will find driving directions to campus (http://www.wcu.edu/545.asp) on the WCU website as well as a map of campus (http://www.wcu.edu/546.asp). The Killian building is #35 on that map (center of map on the left). The departmental office is on the third floor, Killian301. Parking is always a problem but make sure that you park in student parking areas only.

If you are flying, we are about 3 hours from Atlanta’s Hartsfield International Airport and about an hour and 20 minutes from the Asheville Regional airport.

In terms of places to stay I recommend the local Comfort Inn (US23/74 right before Exit 85 on the right, Sylva NC, 828 586-3315), the Holiday Day Inn Express (US23/74 at Exit 81, Dillsboro NC, 828 631-1111), or the University Inn across from campus in Cullowhee (563 N Country Club Dr, Cullowhee NC, 828 293-5442).

Notes:

Unfortunately, Dr. Minor is retiring at the end of this year and Dr. Acheson has taken a position at Duke University Medical School.  However, we are in the process of hiring two new faculty members for our program.

Caleb Corwin

My name is Caleb Corwin. I am actually from Cullowhee, NC, no lie, some normal people are from here. I attended ECU for undergrad where I studied Psychology and Religious Studies. I enjoy playing soccer, hiking, rafting, swimming, and various other things that help take my mind off of school. My current research interests are rather eclectic, I enjoy researching anything interesting and for the moment that includes ADHD, Religion, and Implicit Attitudes.

Paul Ingram
I'm from Raleigh, NC and did my undergraduate at UNC Asheville in psychology. I moved up here because I love the outdoors and the mountains. I spend most of my free time studying or reading literary classics. My favorite poem is Invictus by William Henley and my favorite book is The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I was born in 1982 so I got a slightly later start in school that some other people, but because of that I fell in love with adolescent emotional, psychopathological, social and  development. My thesis is on personality factors and how they relate to preference for social group structure and further how these relationships differ in adolescence and emerging adulthood. My current research interests focus primarily on hemispheric asymmetries in individuals with attention deficits.
