Form A
Test 1 Fall, 2000
Social Security Number_______________________
Interpret means to explain the information content of some magnitude
without giving step-by-step instructions for its calculation. Be
specific (involve the magnitude and problem context in the explanation
and use terms and concepts we have studied). Be precise (take care
to correctly use and order your words to coincide with the technical terms
and concepts from class). Be concise, relevant, legible, and not
redundant.
Show all work and do so clearly and legibly. Any ambiguity about
the steps or diagrams that develop the answer or which part of your work
is the answer will cost you points. You must clearly, consistently,
and logically communicate written answers.
Show all rounded computations at least two places past the decimal.
Do not round values you take from the statistical tables.
Point values are in bold beside each question.
If at any point you cannot compute an answer in a multiple part problem,
just state an assumed value that you will use to continue the sequence
of questions. Although you will lose points for the computation,
if you use the assumed value correctly and consistently in the subsequent
problems and questions, I will not count the subsequent problems wrong.
