The students are expected to attend all class meetings.  Students may miss up to one week of class meetings without penalty.   For example, if a class meets once per week, then the student is entitled to one absence without penalty; if a class meets twice per week, then the student is entitled to two absences without penalty; if a class meets three times per week, then the student is entitled to three absences without penalty.

It is advised that all students schedule personal, school related, or medical appointments outside of class time.  There are no excused absences.

Students are expected to be on time for all class meetings.  Students are expected to attend the entire class session.  This includes both the classroom and activity components to the class (if applicable).

Students are responsibile for signing in at every class meeting.  A clipboard with the class roster will be passed around at each class meeting for each student to initial each date of class attendance.  Forgetting to sign in is no excuse.

Attendance Penalty:  Three-(3) points will be deducted from the final grade for each absence after the number allowed in the course attendance policy.  As stated above, this is dependant upon the number of class meetings per week.

Tardiness Penalty:  Tardiness is unbecoming of a pre-professional and will not be tolerated!  For each incident of tardiness to class, one-half-(.5) of a point will be deducted from the final grade.

Leaving class early will be penalized at the discretion of the instructor.

All students that will be missing class meetings due to travel for university related events must first use their allowed number of absences under the attendance policy described above.  Additional university related travel will be excused for each travel date beyond the allowed number of absences under the attendance policy described above. 

For example, a student-athlete that meets class twice per week, but has four scheduled athletic contest travel dates during the semester will not be penalized for those absences.  Any additional absences beyond those university related travel dates will be penalized as stated under the attendance penalty policy.  Written notification must be provided to the instructor prior to each university related absence or it will not be recognized as such.  Any work missed as a result of a university related travel absence must be completed ahead of the date of travel.
