The National Association of Broadcasters Convention is April 18 through April 23, 2009 and  the Broadcast Education Association Convention is April 22 through April 25. The Radio and Television News Directors convention runs concurrently with both of these conventions. 

This is a tremendous opportunity for students to participate in the world's largest gathering of broadcast educators and media professionals.  The conventions are held in Las Vegas.  The group will fly out of Asheville early on Sunday, April 19 and return late Friday evening; arriving back in Asheville on Saturday April 25.  This trip is only open to broadcasting majors in good standing who meet the following criteria: 

   

                            1.  You must be 21 years old prior to departure date.
                   2.  You must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.75
                   3.  If you are a member of a university athletic team you must
                        have a
signed release from your coach stating you may attend
                        prior
to booking your convention package.
                   4.  You must sign a travel release.
                   5.  You must be a member of the Broadcast Education Association.
                   6.  Students are required by the hotel to have a credit card to show
                        at check in.

                                                                     

A meeting will be held in early September to discuss this opportunity.  Group travel arangements will be made through Fugazy Travel in Asheville.  Space is limited on a first come, first served basis. 

Rates are based on double occupancy in each room.  You will be rooming with someone.  It is your responsibility to understand all of the typical travel conditions regarding a trip of this type.  

You are required to join the Broadcast Education Association and register to attend the BEA convention at a cost of $50.00.  This entitles you to attend the BEA, NAB, and RTNDA conventions.    For details, visit www.beaweb.org

The trip is NOT a University sponsored trip, it is NOT a University requirement and you will NOT receive any credit from the University for attending.  You are booking travel and lodging directly wth the group travel agent.  All information subject to change based on the airline industry and other outside factors.
