The Nuts and Bolts of College Writing--an online guide to an actual writing guide, it has useful citation information, helps you get started, and explains what's commonly expected of various kinds of college writing. Fifth edition of Diana Hacker's handbook A Writer's Reference--online companion to the book also has useful MLA citation information. Poetry Sites The Academy of American Poets--contains bios, sample poems, great poets everywhere. Modern American Poetry--scholarly critical commentary on big-name poems and poets. Poetry Daily--a new poem every day! And lots of great archives. Poets and Writers: both a nonprofit organization and a magazine, this is a fine place to connect with a wider community of writers. The Poetry Society--America's oldest poetry organization. A not-half-bad guide to writing a basic poetry explication. Grammar and Usage ATEG: Assembly for the Teaching of English Grammar, a division of NCTE. These are their tips on teaching grammar to the unwilling. Daily Grammar will send you a grammar lesson every day for five days, with a quiz on the sixth day. Internet Guide to Grammar of English--a bit convoluted, but has its uses. A could-be-better-organized-but-basically-sound guide to grammar and style, by Jack Lynch. Personally I like his format comments, especially regarding playing with fonts.
