Curriculum Vita

Catherine Carter directs the English Education program at Western Carolina University. She teaches education, writing, and literature courses, and publishes and researches in poetry, American literature, and English Education. She received her Ph.D. in English at the University of Delaware in 1999 and her North Carolina teaching license in 2004.

For information about English education, classes, teaching resources, or background, please check the links below.

Her first full-length book of poems, The Memory of Gills, is now available from LSU Press. Yes, you can buy it from any of the big online bookstores, like Amazon, but it'd be even better if you patronized an INDEPENDENT bookstore, like our own City Lights.

"...utterly unique--wry and quiet and carrying a velvet sledgehammer..."---Thomas Lux

"...a zest and inventiveness that no reader will soon forget." --Kathryn Stripling Byer
