My Interests

My favorite pasttime is horseback riding. The mountains provide wonderful places to ride (perhaps more from the perspective of the person sitting in the saddle than the horse climbing the trails). I have two horses, a sorrel Arab named Aladdin and a 2-year old dunn Appaloosa named Sportin'No Spots (Sport). Above center is a very young Sport; right, Aladdin is being ridden by my neice Ali; below dear friend Tiare is riding him (center).

My husband Ben and I are licensed wildlife rahabilitators, dealing mainly with small mammals.

Whitewater rafting is definitely better as a spectator sport. Note above that someone (ME) is about to hit the 52-degree water of the Nantahala River while Ben and friend Tiare paddle on, oblivious to my plight! To me, mountain biking is much more fun. My brother and I, pictured above, recently bought moutain bikes and have found wonderful places to ride (or, in my case when it's uphill, often walk) our bikes. My goal is to ride more, walk less. I'm working on it.

My husband and I share our home with three dogs: Bear, Sophie and Marsha (above, respectively). Sadly, Molly and Hazel, our two 15-year old dogs, passed away summer, '06. We lost Sandy to cancer summer, '05.
