GOALS OF THE COURSE

> to read and become familiar with important Medieval and Renaissance (1100-1700) writings of Western Europe

> to become familiar with techniques of reading, interpreting, analyzing, and discussing literature, especially literature from the past

> to become comfortable with historical and cultural issues of Western Europe from about A. D. 1100 - 1700

> to improve reading, writing, and speaking skills.
