Headphones
Headphones will be needed for every class session in the CO 374 lab. You will need to supply your own headphones.
Note: 1 1/4 inch connector (adapter) will be needed to connect to the mixer at the workstation.
We recommend Audio Technical ATH-M2X "open ear" headphones.

Project List
A scoring project will be completed for each of the following instrumental combinations:
1. string orchestra, 2.*woodwind quintet, 3. woodwind choir, 4. *brass quintet, 5. brass Choir
6. mixed percussion ensemble, 7. *wind ensemble (Final Project)

Scoring Project Grading Rubric

A - Outstanding
B - Good
C - Acceptable
 D - Poor
F - Unacceptable
Effective, creative orchestration.  Generally effective orchestration.  Adequate orchestration. Weak orchestration.  Unusable orchestration.
Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of the instruments assigned and techniques of scoring. Good balance and blend is maintained. Doublings are appropriate, and the function of the parts is clear. Textures are varied and interesting. Attention to details of articulation, phrasing and dynamics. Demonstrates a clear understanding of the assigned instruments and procedures of scoring. Some minor errors in function, balance, blend or texture. Demonstrates a basic knowledge of the assigned instruments and procedures of scoring. Some minor errors in register or transposition. Some obvious errors in function, balance, blend or texture.  Some obvious errors in transposition or instrument ranges and registers. Wrong notes! Function of the parts is unclear. Static texture. Lack of attention to detail. Serious or persistent errors.  Unable to demonstrate knowledge of the assigned instruments and procedures of scoring. Did not complete.
