ASSIGNMENTS
1. Read chapters 1 and 2 in textbook.  Complete Chrysler case study.  Visit Baldridge site and determine criteria framework;
   (use format as specified in syllabus when specified). Begin identifying organization for quality assurance project.  Begin personal
   quality assurance plan. Develop an outline of a quality assurance plan for a prior workplace.
    Due Date: 26 AUG 99

2.  Read chapter 9   Complete the case study for Shiny Hills Farms at the end of chapter 2.  Visit a manufacturing or service organization
     and conduct an interview with a quality assurance dirctor.
     Address the following:
                                        1.   Name of Organization
                                        2.   Major product or service provided
                                        3.   Major market
                                        4.   Chief competitior
                                        5.   Benchmarking---is it used, how is it used?
                                        6.   What quality standards are imployed? (e.g. ISO, Customer Specific, Self imposed)
                                        7.   What drives the setting of quality standards?
                                        8.   Develop a block diagram and outline of the quality assurance plan;
                                        9.   Develop a block diagram and outline of quality control methods employed
                                        10.  Identify how quality effectiveness is measured.
 
     Due Date: 02 SEPT 99

3.  Complete the Assignment on QFD and DFM
     Due Date:  09 SEPT 99.

4.  Complete the Assignment on Quality Assurance Guidelines, Read Chapter 12.
     Due Date:  16 SEPT 99.

5.  Complete Quality Assurance Module.
     Complete the problems and questions as indicated at the end of the module.
     Note:  For problems 3 and 4, complete the assignment using Excel.  Develop an SPC chart
     showing X-BAR and Range data.  Analyze the data under two assumptions:
          assumption 1:   10 samples with 4 runs;
          assumption 2:     4 samples with 10 runs.

6.  Complete the SPC problem set posted on the message board.  Complete requirements as indicated.
