LAB 7:  CLAMP AND WORK CIRCUIT WITH LIMITED CLAMP FORCE

PURPOSE:  Construct / simulate a clamp and work circuit and determinte the settings of all pressure control valves.

PROCEDURE

        1.  Draw the following circuit in Automation Studio;
             SPECIFICATIONS FOR BOTH CYLINDERS:
                  BORE:  50 mm
                  ROD DIA:  25 mm
                  FRICTION FORCE: 100 N
        2.  Calculate the required pressure at each actuator assuming the following:
             Maximum clamp force (horizontal cylinder):  4KN
             Minimum work force (vertical cylinder):      20KN
        3.  Set the pressure control valves 10 bar above required pressures and 10 bar apart;
        4.  Simulate the circuit;
        5.  Measure and record the pressures on the guages shown on the diagram;
        6.  Determine the following:
             Relief Valve Setting                                   ____________
             Pressure Reducing Valve Setting:             ____________
             Sequence Valve Setting (work cylinder)    ____________
             Sequence Valve Setting (clamp cylinder)  ____________

             Requirements for the electric motor as indicated;
             Horsepower @ .85 Efficiency                    ____________
             Power Requirements in kilow-watts          ____________

        7.  Submit a formal written report by next class period.
